Anthropologie

anthropologie_homeaccents

I have a love-hate relationship with Anthropologie when it comes to home goods. My style doesn’t quite fit their target theme - romantic, antique, and patterny. Every now and then tho, I do come across little accents that make such lovely compliment to a modern streamlined home. These picks above are quite nice. Who’s the fairest mirror $148, Pheasant Pillow $68, Gatekeeper Key Holder $16.

Also at Moma - slick hip case for your laptop and other goodies. The outer casing is made of ecological thinned and treated japanese cedar wood. $265. I love the simple form and the uniqueness of it. Designed by Takumi Shimamura, 2003 .

Target Pillows

Who would have thought that Target of all people would have the ever-so-comfy thai-style triangle pillow ($27) for sale. These pillows (if made properly) are made of stuffed raw cotton, which make them firm yet ultra supportive. It is the best thing to have around to support your back while reading on the bed. Most of the time they come in traditional thai print pattern with contrasting stitches in the side area. These ones here took a more modern take. Others on the side are little throw pillows that certainly have lots of looks for less price (At least from the photo anyway). Purple Floral ($14), Cream Sequin ($40), and Purple Pillow ($25).

Ultimate bachelor pad bathroom accessory that says “I’ve got style”. The Mass Transit shower curtain is made of 100% cotton with brushed metal grommets. Gents - you’d be surprise how many ladies out there consider your bathroom condition as their criteria for dating. If you can’t keep it spanky clean, at least distract her with a nice curtain. Available at Target for mere $14.99.

Wooster Collective

Ever strolled down an alley or a street side and stumble upon kick ass graffitti? Living in NYC is like a haven for discovering fantastic street art all over town. Wooster Collective is not a product, nor a store, but it is a blog that features photos of street art from around the world. I’ve seen quite a few in person but have always wondered who the artists were. Well, if its on Wooster Collective, chances are the artists’ names will be there.

October’s Metropolitan Home magazine is shock full of goodies. The most alluring piece of them all is the Havana Chaise Lounger by Paul Mathieu. Its graceful legs and perfect curves are simply stunning. I couldn’t find a nice picture of it on the net, but here’s one equally superb - the sofa seater. So pretty. Price starts around $20,000 at Ralph Pucci.

architecturedays

ArchitectureDays is a three-city series of events including lectures by leading architects, customized tours, receptions in amazing spaces and more. Sponsored by Architectural Digest, the goal of the event is to celebrate architecture and its influences. Dates are: New York - 10.9 to 10.15; Los Angeles - 10.23 to 10.29; and Miami - 11.06 to 11.12. See more details here.

I’ll be attending the Modernism in Greenwich Village session which will cover mid-century modern buildings in the neighborhood. Although I would also love to check out the Brooklyn Shoreline, waking up for a 10AM *anything* on *both* days of my birthday weekend is just unrealistic. (Well, I guess doing that any weekend is unrealistic for me). Along with Digital Life event at the Javitz Center, it will be a good first relaxing weekend in a very long time to look forward to.

I.V. Plantpot

It seems I need this i.v. business more than a plant these days. I’m wrapping up on a very busy season at work and truly hoping for the San Diego Padres to make it to the postseason this year (all for very selfish reasons of course). I.V. Plantpot here is a niftly item for the not-so-green thumbs among us. The i.v. dripper serves as a self-watering device so you don’t have to baby it daily. Of course, you’ll still need to monitor to make sure the liquid diet stays sufficient every now and then. Lovely, lovely. About $280 at Vitamin Living

Plain or Flowery?

Our current (and short-lived) shower curtain is about to head down the recycling bin any moment now so I am looking for a replacement. I *love* the Crate and Barrel / Marimekko Kukula pattern ($45), but I am always afraid bold large print may overwhelm small space. A more muted classy simple lines of Restoration Hardware’s Pintuck Sateen is quite nice as well ($79). At this point the cheaper one might win out.
