Gargyle

gargyle

Congratulations to my pal Don and his wife for the take-off of their country-club chic apparel store, Gargyle. Gargyle carries some seriously unique clothing line that’s quite hard to find (united bamboo! one of my fave). They are prime example that if you really want to do something, keep at it and you’ll succeed. Yay!

In Living Color: Vax

vax

Unfortunately I can’t really read the details of this site, but hey.. a cool bag is a cool bag no matter where it comes from. This is Vax laptop bag from Barcelona. Shock-full of color and function that will keep your baby (that’d be the computer) protected in style. I love the bright combination of the hip tech color. Turns the inner-nerd on. (Thanks Xavier!)

Burton Sleeper

While on the subject of flying the other day I stumbled upon this hoodie. Average looking from the outside - shock full of goodies on the inside. This hoodie is not your average Williamsburg hipster hoodie. Somebody at Burton took apart all the elements that make flying annoying and provides a fix-all solution in one unassuming hoodie. It comes equipped with an eye patch to cut out unwanted light, hidden slash pocket for ear plugs, interior fuzzy-soft jersey cotton, zippered internal pocket large enough for passport and tickets, AND the killer of them all — the hood has a snap-off neck pillow for the long cross-continent flights. At $100 a pop, we can guarantee that the smarty pants that thought this up is well paid. Available at the Burton Store for both guys and gals.

Dosh Wallet

dosh

If you are the kind that feast on apple design, you’ll love these totally cool dosh wallets. Made of flexible polymers, these babies are as hip under water as they are on dry land. Now, if only bills weren’t made of paper, we’d be set. $49.95 AUD. Made in Australia. (via design spotter)

Nixon Ceramic Player

The Nixon Ceramic Player watch is dreamy. Well, overall the whole Nixon brand is dreamy. The only thing not so dreamy is that this really awesome watch cost a whopping $1300 — price that is on par with the likes of Tag Heuer. For those with smaller bank account, opt for their cheaper Player series ($190).

Chibi Bags

chibi

I’m still a loyal fan of Yukiko Sato, but who can pass up on these super cute Chibi bags. For $45, the price point is pretty sweet especially for someone like me who will inevitably drop a whole bottle of tabasco on it one day. At least I won’t be crying myself a river. I also have to say - mad props on the site design as well. Love the delicate simplicity. (thanks, jash)

The Shredder

attus

No, not this shredder from TMNT, but the more muted, understated, and stylish shredder. Attus kicks these basic polo up a notch with little stitches that do not go unnoticed. I love clothes with neat finishing touches that don’t turn you into a corporate billboard (read: g-star, thank you). Other notable goodies are the 40 (lol) and the hangover. Damage: $54. Sorry ladies, looks like its boys only.

Etsy Earrings

Shopping for anything on Etsy can be an all-day extravaganza, despite all their gimmicky attempts to create various browsing methods. In all honestly a little “search within result” type functinality should do.

I’m heading out to a fantastic restaurant Nobu tomorrow night for the mr.’s birthday with his parents. As I’m thinking of what to wear for this special occasion, it dawned on me that I’ve pretty much manage to lose almost all my earrings. Although I probably wont be able to get anything in time for tomorrow, I figure this spring is a good time to replenish the supply in an el-cheapo way. (Afterall, I will lose this set too in due time anyway)

Here is my pick from Etsy after browsing through 150 pages or so. From top left to bottom right: Cairn by Gemmafactrix ($34), Green polka dot felt dangle by Ellezee ($8), Deploy by Neawear($22), Red porceline flower by Suuskeramiek ($14.90), Hoops with buttons by Dareutowear ($4.99), Hammered circle by Embraceletsdesign ($24), The clockmaker’s daughter by Farewelltransmission ($22), The ring series by Cailean ($10), and Japanese poppy by kspell ($17).
