Absolutely gorgeous digital art by the perpetually impressive Joshua Davis (who also happens to be a flash god). I’m especially in love with this lastest aspen series (view larger at his flickr) mostly because the color palette is exactly what I have painted in my home. Although this specific series isn’t up for retail, you can buy other ones of his limited edition super large print art at maxalot studio (450+ euro) and check out his other amazing work at once-upon-a-forest.
My best friend is getting married next weekend 7.7.2007 (nice date, huh) in Thailand so I’m flying out in the next few days. I’ve been to one other Thai wedding before when I was very very young. I remembered the morning ceremony being quite unique. Maybe I’ll document it in the travel section after I return. While we’re on wedding, pictured here is custom invitation by hello lucky!, one of my favorite letterpress company. I *love* the whimsical designs they have, the perfectly paired font choices and colors. There’s a lot of little meticulous things that truly makes their work a step above. Shown here in Origami Garden. (shh, I Photoshopped my friend’s name onto this)..
See you mid July.
EDIT: didn’t end up taking any notes. the bride was totally hot tho. eheheheh.
Intriguing book that cover 2 of my favorite topics - graffiti and architecture. To combine these two, you almost have to take a biased stance towards graffiti more so than architecture. As an architect, the structure you build is your art - it itself is a statement you want to portray. As a graffiti artist, the structure serves a mere canvas. They co-exist, but almost never mutually. $40 from Sprout Home.
I’m loving this spring-y Snow and Graham blossoming vines gift wrap ($2.75), available at Luxe Paperie.
If you have a thing for octopi, you can get a fabulously awesome glass blown one for $395 at Plantation. Me? I like them in the form of tako yaki. Yumm.
Fantastic eye candy on paper at Potionbrand. Do your christmas card shopping early and be rewarded with freebie holiday gift tags. More info here. (Thanks for the email Melissa!)
Ever strolled down an alley or a street side and stumble upon kick ass graffitti? Living in NYC is like a haven for discovering fantastic street art all over town. Wooster Collective is not a product, nor a store, but it is a blog that features photos of street art from around the world. I’ve seen quite a few in person but have always wondered who the artists were. Well, if its on Wooster Collective, chances are the artists’ names will be there.
When Lisa Hoffman left the company we used to work together (formerly known as scient) to start her own business, Ceci, she was simply destined to succeed. Through a common friend, I’ve had the pleasure of occasionally checking in on Ceci to see how things are going and every time I visit the collection keeps growing. Ceci makes custom invitation cards for your special occasion with a flare for “chic elegance”. Lisa pays a lot of attention to details that reflect the personality of the sender and the occasion. Call it custom-tailored suits on paper. There are some boxed set you can get online here. I personally like the custom ones better. Enjoy.
